Lawson Creek Gage Measurements

As part of the Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) project in the McMurdo Dry Valleys of Antarctica, a systematic sampling program has been undertaken to monitor the glacial meltwater streams in that region. These tables contain data pertaining to continuous monitored water quality and quantity parameters measured with automatic recording devices on streams in this region.This metadata record describes the hydrological data gathered since 1994 at the Lawson Creek.

Stream Algae Ash-Free Dry Mass

As part of the Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) project in the McMurdo Dry Valleys of Antarctica, a systematic sampling program has been undertaken to monitor the abundance and species distribution of algal mats in glacial meltwater streams of the region. This table contains data showing the ash-free dry mass represented by algal type (brown-colored, red-colored, orange-colored, or green-colored algae, filamentous, sand, rock or moss) and incubation type (light, dark, or none) for multiple streams, dates, and replications.

Relative Positions Within Stream Transects

As part of the Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) project in the McMurdo Dry Valleys of Antarctica, a systematic sampling program has been undertaken to monitor glacial meltwater stream attributes of the region. Optical topographic surveys were performed to produce a layout of the area studied. This file provides a list of distances and height differences for features along the transect line at each site ("T-points"). All heights are relative to the assumed zero value at the transect RM #1. Distances are horizontal.

Algal microbial mat biomass measurements from the McMurdo Dry Valleys and Cape Royds, Antarctica from 1994 to present

As part of the Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) project in the McMurdo Dry Valleys of Antarctica, a systematic sampling program has been undertaken to monitor the glacial meltwater streams in that region. This dataset contains microbial biomass concentrations found in algal mats located in streams throughout the McMurdo Dry Valleys as well as in ponds of the nearby Cape Royds. Microbial mat biomass has been collected as part of the McMurdo LTER since the 1993-1994 field season and measured as ash-free dry mass (AFDM) and chlorophyll-a (Chl-a).
