Phys.org: Global nematode abundance is strongly correlated with soil carbon

Phys.org highlights a new study on soil nematodes published in Nature, co-authored by co-PI Dr. Byron Adams and co-PI Emeritus Dr. Diana Wall, provides conclusive evidence that the majority of these highly abundant microscopic organisms live in high latitude arctic and sub-arctic soils. Nematodes play a critical role in the cycling of carbon and nutrients and heavily influence CO2 emissions. Antarctic nematodes collected from McMurdo Dry Valleys soils by the MCM soils team contributed towards the important finding that nematode abundance is strongly correlated with soil carbon.
