Snow school weather

Kyle slept out on the ice shelf last night. It’s a McMurdo ritual for first-years (hazing?). Most people hope for sunny skies and calm winds, but Kyle wanted a blizzard to prove how tough he is. Two years ago, I had a -35*C wind chill, and condition two.
Severe Weather Condition 2 is defined as one of the following:
· Winds 48 to 55 knots sustained for one minute, or
· Visibility less than ¼ mile, but greater than or equal to 100 feet sustained for one minute, or
· Wind chill -75°F to -100°F sustained for one minute.
Here’s what Kyle got (he’s sleeping out near Pegasus):
Weather Oct 12 – 13, 2012
I’d say he proved his toughness. If he makes it home tonight, I’ll buy his first beer.
