David's current research focuses on the stratigraphy and geochemistry of perennially ice-covered lakes in the McMurdo Dry Valleys, the largest ice-free region in Antarctica. Specifically, he's interested in using petrography and stable isotopes to characterize the carbonate facies in both the modern Lake Fryxell facies and the paleolake deposits of Miers Valley in order to develop a genetic model of carbonate precipitation in these settings.
