Ernie is a PhD student working with Dr. Jeb Barrett. He is broadly interested in the influence of landscape history on the structure and ecosystem functioning of soil microbial communities. With the McMurdo LTER, his work has been to characterize the response of soil bacterial communities to altered soil stoichiometry (i.e., C:N:P ratios) across phosphorus gradients in Antarctic ecosystems.
