Joel's research is motivated by the need to understand how hydrological and biogeochemical processes interactively control the transport, transformation, and retention of primary nutrients in low order streams across multiple temporal and spatial scales. Joel is particularly interested in the response of these dynamics to highly unsteady and intermittent stream flow.
